Plan your journey from Antalya Airport Domestic

From Antalya’s domestic airport, you’re around a 30-minute drive from the city of Antalya – a bustling modern metropolis with a historic heart. The old town is a delight to explore with Ottoman mansions, narrow alleyways and a pretty harbour area.

The main square has a number of landmarks to spot, including the stone clock tower and the 18th-century Tekeli Mehmet Pasa Mosque featuring an elaborately tiled interior.

The entrance gates to the old town are another must-see, the most dramatic being Hadrian’s Gate – a three-arched marble gateway built in AD 130 in honour of Emperor Hadrian.

Walk along Hesapci Sokak and check out the elegant truncated minaret, Kesik Minare, all that’s left of a building that was originally a Roman temple, then a church and finally a mosque.

If you’re interested in Turkish history, make sure you spend a few hours at the Antalya Museum. Here you’ll uncover a host of exhibits and finds from excavation sites across Turkey, including a large archaeological section with artefacts from the bronze age to Byzantium times.

The Roman Fortress overlooking the harbour is another prime attraction. Set next to an attractive park, the ancient structure is popular with families and those in search of a peaceful picnic location.

Enjoy the sights of Antalya and southern Turkey from the comfort of your rental car.

Beyond Antalya Airport Domestic

Antalya Province is a diverse region located on the southwest coast of Turkey, incorporating the old town and beach resort of Antalya. There’s so much to do in this diverse destination, with glorious national parks, numerous archaeological sites and beaches galore.

Aspendos

Just a 40-minute drive north of Antalya Airport (via the D400) is Aspendos, an archaeological site featuring a Roman theatre believed to be one of the best preserved in the world. No wonder it’s one of Turkey’s top attractions.

Köprülü Canyon National Park

Just under an hour’s drive from Antalya Airport, via the D400, is Koprulu Canyon National Park. This stunning area of natural beauty covers an area of just over 35 hectares and was declared a national park in 1973. It’s an ideal spot for those craving outdoor pursuits. Naturally, it’s one of Turkey’s most popular spots for rafting, hiking and water sports.

Çirali

If you want to see more of Turkey’s famous archaeological sites, travel for just under two hours (via the D400) to Cirali, a village in the Kemer district of the Antalya Province. Çirali is just a short walk from the ancient ruins of Olympos and the famous Chimaera permanent gas vents.

Hiring a car makes it easy to explore all that the Antalya Province has to offer, plus you’ll see some spectacular Turkish scenery along the way.
