Also known as Poznan Lawica Henryk Wieniawski Airport, Poznan Airport (POZ) is one of the oldest in Poland and was first set up in 1913.  Initially set up as a military airport, it stayed that way until domestic flights began operating in the 1920s. Today the airport handles up to 3.5 million passengers a year, flying to 50 international destination across the world.

Poznan Airport is a convenient 7km from the city centre, making it easy to reach Poznan by car. Once you've collected your Avis rental vehicle, head along the main Bukowska road to Swiety Marcin - you'll be in the centre of the Old Town in less than 20 minutes!

Poznan offers a variety of historical and cultural attractions, with something for everyone to enjoy. Explore the Old Market Square - also known as Stary Rynek - and take in the colourful townhouses that line the nearby streets. While in the area, you should also visit the impressive town hall and look for a local eatery to sample some authentic Polish pierogi. When the weather is nice, you can also spend the day at one of the city's many green spaces, like Lake Malta, a man-made lake right in the city, complete with surrounding woodlands.

Gniezno 

Considered the first capital of Poland, Gniezno is a charming city full of historical attractions. Around 66km away from Poznan, Gniezno is under an hour's drive from the city, making it ideal for a day trip. Head east through the countryside and you'll reach Greater Poland, a region rich in cultural heritage. 

Biskupin

Also located in Greater Poland, Biskupin is an archaeological site that transports visitors right back to the Bronze Age thanks to its well preserved settlements and faithful reconstructions. Just over 90km from Poznan, the drive takes between 1hr15mins and 1hr30mins depending on traffic. Head out in the morning and spend the day exploring the open-air musuem at your own pace.
