To rent a car in Finland you must be at least 20 years old and have held a valid licence for at least a year.

You’ll also need to present the relevant documentation when you collect your car: driver’s licence, passport or valid photo ID, and credit card in the driver’s name.


In Finland, like much of Europe, you drive on the right-hand side of the road. Roads are in good condition and the average speed limit is 50 km/h in built-up areas and 80km/h outside. On motorways, the speed limit can go up to as much as 120 km/h.
